Reflective Roof Savings Estimator
Takes about 3 minutes
Enter your building details below to estimate the annual cooling cost reduction from installing a reflective roof coating. This estimator uses DOE-validated models for Climate Zone 2A (Gulf Coast) and adjusts for your insulation level, building type, and current roof surface.
What this tool does: Calculates estimated annual cooling savings based on your building's roof area, insulation level, current roof color, and location. Results show both percentage reduction and dollar savings.

How this estimator works
The savings calculation uses three inputs to estimate cooling cost reduction: your building's heat gain through the roof, the reflective coating's ability to reduce that heat gain, and your current cooling cost. Roof heat gain depends on insulation level, roof area, and the current surface reflectance. The coating's improvement depends on the chemistry selected and the color chosen. Your current cooling cost provides the baseline that the percentage reduction is applied to.
Results are estimates based on DOE modeling for Climate Zone 2A, which covers the Gulf Coast region. Actual savings depend on HVAC efficiency, building occupancy patterns, thermostat settings, and weather variation year to year. The estimator provides a conservative midpoint — actual savings may be higher or lower by 15% to 20%.
Want a precise analysis for your building?
This estimator gives you a ballpark figure — a professional assessment gives you a precise one. A contractor evaluation includes infrared surface temperature measurements, insulation verification, HVAC system assessment, and utility bill analysis that account for variables this calculator cannot capture.
